Four years after KGF: Chapter 2, Yash made his big-screen return with Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Directed by Geethu Mohandas on a reported budget of over ₹500 crore, the action spectacle grossed ₹322.00 crore worldwide during its extended eight-day first week. However, after launching with a massive opening day gross of ₹120.75 crore in India, the film experienced a steep decline in daily collections.
The film’s initial momentum slowed rapidly as weekday regularities set in. On Day 2, collections fell by 62.65% to ₹45.10 crore, followed by steady drops through the weekend. The decline steepened on its first Monday (Day 6), when daily earnings fell by 67.33% to ₹9.05 crore, eventually reaching ₹6.00 crore on its second Wednesday (Day 8). This represents a 95% drop compared to its opening day. Despite the daily volatility, Sacnilk data shows Toxic crossed major milestones quickly, passing ₹100 crore in India on Day 1, ₹200 crore by Day 4, and reaching a total India gross of ₹280.25 crore (₹234.70 crore net) across 139,177 shows.
A breakdown across regions and languages shows varying performance trends. The Hindi version generated the largest total share, grossing ₹170.60 crore across 99,514 shows, but suffered a drop in occupancy from 53% on Day 1 to 13% by Day 8. Major Hindi circuits saw notable decreases in show counts: NCR reduced from 1,750 to 769 shows, while Mumbai dropped from 1,146 to 431 shows, with cities like Ahmedabad and Surat seeing occupancy fall into single digits. Conversely, the film’s home market in Kannada held up more consistently, earning ₹66.14 crore with an average occupancy of 47.8%, maintaining strong mid-week holds above 45% in centers like Bengaluru and Mysuru.
In ticket sales, the film recorded 40,34,450 tickets sold through BookMyShow across the eight days, starting at 8.97 lakh on opening day. National multiplex chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis) accounted for over 20 lakh tickets sold in the same timeframe. With a massive budget to cover, the initial week highlights a heavily front-loaded run driven by strong star power and advance interest. The film’s second-weekend performance will determine its trajectory toward long-term box office recovery.
